Whatever You Do! Don't!

I promised more updates on the house! They are getting ready to shingle, but it snowed here all day so they had to postpone. However, the doors and windows are in, so you can take a look below. As always, click images to see them full-sized.

Ready For Shingles

We Have A Door!

Jay figures that one the shingles are on, it'll be 6-8 weeks before we move in. So, hopefully mid-January if they keep up the pace.

Today we had our first snowfall (as you can see in the photos) but it didn't really hang around. By the time Jay got home from work he couldn't even tell that it had snowed.

I took a few photos at the gym the other day (no, NOT the locker rooms, ha ha) so that you can see what our Childminding Room looks like.

Sydnie Pushes Her Dinosaur

Lincoln is enjoying school. He's doing really well with his numbers, and we're still working on learning his letters (identifying them by sight and knowing what sounds they make). I also got his school picture order form this week. He looks so cute! We ordered a larger package so that everyone who wants a photo can have one.

Recently, in order to help them behave at the grocery store, I've started letting them each pick out an item from the produce section that they have never tried before. During the last trip, Sydnie picked out a pomegranate, and Lincoln picked out a dragon fruit. They really enjoy this little 'tradition' of ours, and Sydnie informs me that her next choice is going to be a star fruit.

The other day I cut the pomegranate open and cleaned out all the seeds into a bowl for them. They were fascinated by it, which was quite adorable. You'd think Christmas had arrived, they were so excited. I didn't really expect them to like it so much, but they ate the entire bowl full.

I think it's good to encourage them to try new things, food-wise. Letting them pick the items themselves makes it more appealing because it's not like us forcing them to eat something they aren't sure about.

They wanted me to take a picture of it, and so I did.

Pomegranate Seeds

This weekend we are having the sitter over for a few hours on Saturday evening. I am having her come at the time when the kids go to bed so that I can show her their routine in case we ever have her watch them at a time she will have to put them to bed. She'll stay after they are sleeping so that Jay and I can go to a movie, or to the pub for wings and beer. I'm looking forward to that.

Lincoln also has his first classmate Birthday Party to go to on Saturday. A girl from his class sent home an invitation last week, and he said he wanted to go. The party is being held at Rollerama, which could be interesting. If Lincoln ends up on roller skates, I will take pictures to show everyone.

We booked our flights this week, for our trip out in Dec/Jan. I'll write out our itinerary closer to the date, so that people who are able to visit us, can coordinate times/places.

Hopefully everyone had a good week!
